Our Story

Collingswood Music opened in 1997, back when Haddon Avenue was a little quieter and a little rougher around the edges. We sold instruments, gave lessons, bought records, fixed things that broke — and kept doing that long enough that local people began to rely on us.

A few years later, we relocated down the avenue, bought a worn-down building, fixed it up, and moved into the larger brick-and-beam shop you see today. The neighborhood has changed. The shop has grown. The basic idea has stayed the same: keep the door open, keep things honest, and stay connected to the community that grew up around the store.

These days, we’re a regular stop for local musicians, students, families, collectors, and people who “just need strings real quick.” Some folks have been coming in for decades. Some walk in for the first time every week. Both seem to work out just fine.
